Employee Spotlight: Kira Caban, Head of Strategic Communications

Our mission at Instawork is to create economic opportunities for local businesses and professionals, globally. In order to achieve that mission, we have built a team composed of talented and hard-working individuals who are passionate about connecting skilled hourly workers with local businesses who need their services.

Our Employee Spotlight series takes the opportunity to highlight members of our team and to give a glimpse into our culture and what it’s like to work at Instawork. To highlight the diversity of our team, we’ve asked Kira Caban, Head of Strategic Communications, to share more about her experience working at Instawork.

What do you do at Instawork and how long have you been with the company?

I have been with the company for 2.5 years and have loved every minute of it. Heading up Strategic Communications means that I am responsible for how Instawork communicates to our external audiences through media engagement, content, speaking engagements, thought leadership, and more. The Strat Comms team is also responsible for maintaining our brand’s reputation and ensuring we are a great resource to our Pros and Partners across North America.

What initially attracted you to Instawork?

The impact Instawork makes in the lives of the millions of hourly workers who use the platform every day to find meaningful work is what initially attracted me to the opportunity. The same pull is what gets me excited to come to work everyday, knowing that the work we do is making a difference for families and businesses across the country.

What's your favorite part of your job?

I love telling a good business story and Instawork’s origin and journey is one of the best. I really thrive on the ability to tell our story to external audiences and introduce them to Instawork if they aren’t already familiar with the brand. And if they are, I love going deeper into the impact Instawork is having on local economies and the people who use the platform every day.

What is one piece of “work from home” equipment you couldn’t live without?

My lighting kit - makes Zoom meetings and interviews so much easier!

What's the most important thing you've learned since starting at Instawork?

I am often reminded how much our individual contributions impact the success of our company. It’s rewarding to see your work help the company achieve its goals and mission. I also really enjoy seeing the success of other teams within the organization and the impact those individuals have on our success. #teamwork!
